Apple Crisp

If you don’t need a large pan of this yummy gluten-free apple crisp, feel free to halve all ingredients and bake in an 8"x8" pan instead.

Ingredients

  • 12 cups apples (peeled, sliced)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • whipped cream
  • ice cream

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. In a large bowl, stir together apples, cinnamon, lemon juice, and water. Scoop into baking pan.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, gluten-free all-purpose flour, gluten-free rolled oats or old-fashioned oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  4. Use a pastry cutter or 2 knives to cut in unsalted butter until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.

  5. Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is crisp and browned.

  6. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
